Freak allergy episode

Woke up this morning, could not open my eyes, as they are too swollen to allow it.

Now they are opened enough for me to see my face in the mirror, I look like a Mongol…

Great!

Work

Found one! I start on Monday. The only thing being that I won't go and visit my sister in Burlington, VT

Well, traveling with both my parents AND my aunt was a daunting prospect anyway, so no regrets (almost)

My dog

Arthur quiet in the garden

Here is my dog, Arthur.

He almost never sit still enough, so most of the photos I have of him are blurry…

Now that I have a digital camera, I can at least take lots of pictures, and in some of them, he'll actually be still!

A new year begins

Hello! Happy new year!

I cant' say I feel like I usually do in the beginning of a new year, maybe because of what happened on the other side of the world. It seems so out of proportions, I can't even begin to envision it…

Other than that, I've started the year alright — not drunk, not sick, not in a weird place, whoa!

In 2005 I've resolved to stop my mother's smoking (it's quite selfish in fact, since HER smoking bothers ME), to find a job, to work out regularly, to eat more fruits and vegetables, to change my accent (I've got quite a good ear, and to my horror, I've noticed that I've started to speak with a suburbian accent — not cool), to take proper care of my bike (when I get a job), to save money for a summer trip in Quebec and Vermont (my sister is moving to Vermont soon), and to learn Japanese… Also, it would be good if I stopped being late giving back library books, since it's not civil at all.

Voilà!

Tomorrow, I'll be off to the library, to start with my resolutions… I'll also stop by the the Maison de la Culture du Japon, to inquire about classes (or maybe about the best CD-Rom to start with, I feel adventurous)

Books

One thing I can't stop doing, is reading 2 or 3 books at the same time…

At the moment I'm reading:

  • Eragon, by Christopher PAOLINI
  • The Amulet of Samarkand, Bartimaeus Trilogy, by Jonathan STROUD
  • Lion Boy, by Zizou CORDER (this one i found totally by mistake, and I'm absolutely entranced)
  • A Right to be Hostile, Aaron McGruder (I like the Boondocks, and I haven't seen them anywhere in France)

Well, OK, happens to be that most of them are kiddie books, but hey, they're good too!

Moreover, I have books of my own waiting to be read (those above are library books, so I gotta give them back sometimes), like Fool's Fate, by Robin HOBB, and J. WURTS & Raymond E. FEIST's Mistress of the Empire The last of the Empire Trilogy, it describes a Japanese-styled society (with a hint of Mayan thrown in), and it's really engrossing! A must read, the 3 of them.

That's it !
I'm overbooked!!!!!

(gosh, never thought this could happen to me, having too many books to read, after all these years of re-re-re-re-re-reading my old faves…)
